Payroll Journal Summary


The Payroll Journal Summary report in Zoho Payroll provides a comprehensive record of financial transactions related to payroll processing, including wage payments and tax liabilities. This report offers insights into payroll expenses and liabilities by tracking each debit and credit entry.


Viewing Payroll Journal Summary

To view your Payroll Journal Summary report:

  1. Go to Reports on the left sidebar.
  2. Select Payroll Journal Summary.
  3. Use the date selector at the top of the page to choose the period you wish to analyze. Options include:
    • This Week
    • This Month
    • This Quarter
    • This Year
    • Previous Week
    • Previous Month
    • Previous Quarter
    • Previous Year
    • Custom

The report will display a chronological list of payroll transactions for the selected period, categorized by payroll event, such as Payroll Journal or Wage Payment.


Payroll Journal Summary Components

The report includes the following columns to provide a detailed view of payroll transactions:

Component Description
Date and Transaction Type Displays the date and type of each payroll event, such as Payroll Journal or Wage Payment.
Description Provides a brief description of each transaction, including details like Salaries and Employee Wages, Payroll Tax Payable, and Bank Account.
Debit Lists the amount deducted from the company’s accounts for each transaction.
Credit Lists the amount credited to the company’s accounts for each transaction.

Each transaction displays the relevant debit and credit entries, ensuring that every payroll-related financial movement is recorded and balanced.


Exporting Payroll Journal Summary

You can export the Payroll Journal Summary report for further analysis or record-keeping. Available export formats include:

  • PDF
  • CSV
  • XLS or XLSX

To export the Payroll Journal Summary report:

  1. Go to Reports on the left sidebar.
  2. Click Payroll Journal Summary.
  3. Click the Export as dropdown at the top right corner of the page.
  4. Choose your preferred format for exporting.
  5. If you want to protect the exported file with a password, check the I want to protect this file with a password option and enter a password with at least 6 characters.
  6. Click Export to download the report.
