1. Is Zoho Creator On-Premise HIPAA compliant?
- Because Creator On-Premise is hosted in the premises of your enterprise, it's in the safest environment and does not come under the radar of HIPAA. The cloud version of Creator is HIPPA compliant.
2. Is On-Premise only available in one license type with annual or perpetual plans? What about basic and premium plans?
- Yes, we are currently offering On-Premise with annual or perpetual plans. We do not have basic or premium plans. For further queries about pricing, you can reach out to our team at onprem-sales@zohocreator.com
3. Are all the Zoho Creator cloud functions available with On-Premise?
- Please refer to this document for the differences between cloud and On-Premise versions.
4. Can I move an application from the cloud to On-Premise, and vice-versa?
- Yes, you can use the Export and Import options. While importing to On-Premise, the app DS file must not contain unsupported features for On-Premise. To know more about the feature differences in cloud and On-premise, refer this page.
5. Can a personalized app be created in the Zoho Creator cloud, then imported as a custom app inside Zoho Creator On-Premise?
- Yes, you can download the .ds file and upload it on your On-Premise version. You can make the rest of the configurations after you import the application. Incase you have any feature in your cloud app that is not supported in On-Premise, you will get an error during import. After removing those unsupported features from your .ds file , you can import your app successfully. Learn more
6. Can I have a "master app" in the cloud, and mirror only "as-needed" components on your On-Premise version?
- We do not currently support this feature. It is in our roadmap. Creator's cloud and on-premise versions work in silo, so all the records, users and other entities will be different in the respective deployments.
7. Where can I download the latest versions of On-Premise?
- Please refer to this link to access the On-Premise version
8. Will the On-Premise version provide version updates and bug fixes?
- Yes, we will announce service packs in this page using which customers can upgrade to the latest version. These service packs will fix any bugs found in previous versions. We also have a built-in UpdateManager script to upload the service packs.
9. Why do I have to exclude antivirus for the Zoho Creator folder?
- We are excluding it from the antivirus so that there is no break in the database connectivity.
10. Is the Tomcat server installed on the Windows machine during installation?
- Yes, this is part of the installation bundle. No separate configuration is required.
11. Is it possible to change the domain "https://localhost:8443" after the installation is completed?
- We suggest that you perform domain-mapping instead. You need to update the new URL in certain configuration files. To know more about the files, please contact our support team at onprem-support@zohocreator.com
12. What must be done when previous start has failed??
At times, during a cold start (starting the product for the first time after installation), the populating of DB will stop due to socket connection close. An error message "Previous start failed. Reinit DB and try again" message will be shown in the serverout log file inside the logs folder. In this case, you need to run the following commands to re-initialize and then start the server so that the DB can be populated properly.
Note: The below command must be run only in case of cold start failure. Running these commands on a previously working server results in data loss.Linux

13. How does On-Premise work for a larger organization where the employees are present at various locations?
- In the case of a larger organization, the employees can open up the hosting server to another location (wherever the employees are located) using their firewall configuration.
14. Can I install and use On-Premise apps on mobile?
15. Is API 2.0 supported in On-Premise installation?
- Yes, Creator API 2.0 is supported in On-Premise installation.
16. Is there any limit in the API calls in On-Premise?
- We have a 50k/day limit for Developer API in the Paid plan. We also support Creator V2 API in On-Premise .
17. Can I use API calls to get the Connections feature?
- Currently, we only support the SMS connection via Clickatell in On-Premise. Other integrations can be made using the API calls.
18. Can a cloud app pull data from an On-Premise app?
- The data flow can be enabled using the V2 API or any restAPI endpoint (in the case of a non-zoho product) of the cloud product. You need to ensure that the network permissions of your organization allows this API call.
19. Is there any limitation for the records in On-Premise pricing plans?
- There is no limitation for records in the Creator On-premise paid plan. For the Trial version, there is a limit of 100,000 records. If you need additional records, you will need to upgrade to one of the paid plans.
20. If a device was without internet access, will the Send Mail scripts run automatically once the internet is restored?
- We are unable to keep track of failed email sending tasks. Instead, we support configuring two mail servers in On-Premise at once. When the connection to the primary mail server is lost, we'll try sending the email through the secondary one. If connections to both servers are lost, the email task will fail.
21. Can I publish an On-Premise component publicly similar to the Cloud version?
- Yes, if you want to access the published form online, On-Premise setup needs to be installed in a Public IP with an internet connection. If On-Premise is accessible only via intranet, the published form will have the same restriction.
22. Can I access an On-Premise app using mobile devices via VPN?
- Yes, you can connect to the network via Wifi or VPN, then use your mobile browser to access it.
23. Is it possible to connect our On-Premise app with databases other than Postgres and MySQL?
- We currently support only Postgres and MySQL. In the future, we have plans to support other DBs as well.
24. When I perform a backup, will the app data be stored in my local system or in Zoho Server (similar to Creator's cloud app)?
- Your data will be stored in your local system.
25. How can I perform integration from Cloud apps such as Desk and CRM to my On-Premise app ?
You can write API calls to achieve the same.
Please note that any and every API call that you make on the On prem version will be subject to network permissions of the organization
26. Can I use the same admin email address to access apps simultaneously on the cloud and On-Premise versions?
- Yes, the same email address can be used for both the versions of Creator apps, but they will be considered two different accounts.
27. Can I track client-side logs separately in a different folder structure in the clients' local machine so that it would be easy to debug issues?
- We save our server logs in the client's machine, inside the location of the logs folder with a proper naming structure.
28. Does On-Premise provide a rebranding feature?
- Yes, we do offer a rebranding option, but it needs the product team's assistance. The client has to share a few details for generating an app. We have future plans to make it an in-product feature.
29. Can I change the welcome mail content format based on my organization?
- We do not currently support this option.
30. Can I schedule data backup and script backups in On-Premise?
- Yes, the schedule backup feature for apps that is available in the cloud is also supported in On-Premise. Please refer to this link for more info on backup.
31. Do I have access to Scheduler in the On-Premise version?
- Yes, Scheduler is built in with On-Premise
32. Is the portal user package plan available in On-Premise?
