The PDPL and its scope
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has issued its Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), which has come into effect on March 23, 2022. The PDPL aligns with broader international practices concerning data privacy. It applies to any processing of personal data of the residents of Saudi Arabia by businesses or public entities by any means. The law also includes the processing of personal data of KSA residents by business entities located outside of the Kingdom.
