Migrate from Spreadsheet.com to Zoho Tables

Migrate from spreadsheet.com to Zoho Tables

With the announcement of Spreadsheet.com ceasing its services on May 31, 2024, users are looking for better alternatives. Zoho Tables, a new addition to the Zoho suite, is a compelling option, already embraced by over 4,000 orgs just two months since its launch. Here's a comprehensive guide to seamlessly migrating your data from Spreadsheet.com to Zoho Tables.

To help streamline your migration journey, the team at Tables has crafted an integration that makes moving your worksheets from Spreadsheet.com to Zoho Tables a breeze. Let's look at this integration and some of the key points to consider when migrating your data.

Migrate your data in three simple steps

  1. Connect your Spreadsheet.com account.
  2. Generate the API key from Spreadsheet.com.
  3. Choose the data that needs to be migrated.

Note: More detailed steps can be found in our migration documentation.

First, let's go over the distinctions between Zoho Tables and Spreadsheet.com, to ensure you're making an informed decision. Our approach to work (data) management may differ from that of Spreadsheet.com, which is why these distinctions are significant.

Features unavailable in Zoho Tables

While Zoho Tables is robust, as a new product, we acknowledge that certain features are currently unavailable. However, we have several features as part of our short-term roadmap and they'll be available soon.

Features on our immediate roadmap

  • Gantt charts
  • More triggers and actions for automation
  • Webhooks
  • Row grouping
  • Dashboards
  • Reports

Features exclusive to Zoho Tables

Conversely, Zoho Tables boasts some unique features not found on Spreadsheet.com:

  • Gallery view - Enhance your visual experience by presenting data as a gallery of cards, where images take center stage.
  • Mobile app - With Zoho Tables' dedicated mobile app, users can access and manage their data on the go, ensuring seamless collaboration and productivity from anywhere, at any time. They can also build their own work management solutions right from the mobile app.

Known limitations

Despite our commitment to seamless migration, we must mention certain limitations stemming from Spreadsheet.com's API:

  • Meta details of specific field types: Due to constraints within Spreadsheet.com's API, the meta details of certain field types may not be captured accurately during the migration process. In such cases, the default field properties of Zoho Tables will be applied, and you'll have the option to modify them according to your preferences.
  • Field type compatibility: While we strive to maintain data accuracy during migration, there may be instances where certain field types can't be retrieved properly. These fields will be displayed as text fields in Zoho Tables. For more detailed insights, please refer to our comprehensive documentation.
  • Relation: The relationships between data cannot be retrieved directly, and the data in those columns will be converted to text. However, you can utilize the link field type available in Zoho Tables to establish smart relationships across tables and maintain data integrity.

In addition to the above,

  • While Spreadsheet.com offers 100,000 rows per workbook, Zoho Tables provides 50,000 per base.
  • Spreadsheet.com provides 50GB of attachment storage per project, whereas Zoho Tables offers 200GB per portal.
