PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Helping people work online, Zoho today announced that the company's online spreadsheet application, Zoho Sheet, now supports spreadsheets with up to one million cells of data in one or more worksheets, each of which now supports up to 65,536 rows and 256 columns.
"Our users expect us to keep pushing the limits of what online applications can do, and these upgrades to Zoho Sheet certainly push the limits," said Raju Vegesna, Zoho evangelist.
"When it comes to spreadsheets, size matters. Now, our users can work online with really big spreadsheets which weren't supported before by Zoho or any other online vendor."
Zoho Super Sizes Spreadsheet Support
The latest upgrade to Zoho Sheet includes support for spreadsheets with up to one million cells per document, subject to a maximum of 65,536 rows and 256 columns per worksheet. Users can import spreadsheets up to 10MB. In addition, Zoho Sheet has been bolstered with the following enhancements:
- Performance improvements – Users will notice faster loading speeds, particularly with large spreadsheets, as well as faster execution of range-level operations, undo/redo commands, and more.
- Chrome 4+ and Safari 4+ support – In addition to Firefox 2+ and Internet Explorer 6+ browsers, Chrome 4+ and Safari 4+ are now fully supported.
- Input Method Editor support – Users can directly input Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters into a cell without needing to double click on the cell.
- "Find" functionality – Users can find text inside a spreadsheet. The Ctrl+F shortcut will display the "Find" panel at the bottom of the spreadsheet, so users can search for text in the current sheet, current column or current row.
- Undo/Redo enhancements – The Undo and Redo commands now work across sheets and are maintained on a per-user basis while collaborating with other users.
- Column-, row-, and sheet-level styles and formats – Users can now set styles and formats on column, row and sheet levels.
"Zoho continues to roll out significant improvements to Zoho Sheet which many of our customers have noticed," said Isaac Garcia, CEO and co-founder of Central Desktop. "Through Zoho's online model, our customers were able to utilize the upgraded functionality immediately. We look forward to seeing additional enhancements from Zoho."
The recent upgrades to Zoho Sheet complement previous enhancements designed to make Zoho's online spreadsheet application a business-class tool suitable for SMB and enterprise users alike. Other key capabilities of Zoho Sheet include:
- Macros – Zoho Sheet is the only spreadsheet-beside Microsoft Excel-to support Visual Basic macros. Users can import their existing spreadsheets with Excel macros, and users familiar with Visual Basic can also write new macros in Zoho Sheet. And the macro record and playback feature lets users create macros without resorting to Visual Basic programming. Macros can also be triggered using buttons that can be created within the app.
- Pivot tables and charts – From a simple drag-and-drop interface, users can create pivot tables and pivot charts on structured data or from a range of spreadsheet data. Up to 100,000 rows of structured data can be imported to Zoho Sheet from a CSV file.
