DNS Record Configuration for ENOM
Zoho Mail provides multiple options to verify your domain ownership and configure email delivery in ENOM.
Add TXT records for verification
If your domain's DNS Manager is hosted with Enom DNS, follow the instructions below to update the TXT record for verification.
- Log in to your account at www.enom.com.
- Select My Domains from the Domains dropdown. The Domain Overview page of your domain will be displayed. If you have multiple domains with this host, select the intended domain.
- Select Host Records from the Manage Domains dropdown in the right.
- Click on New Row.
- Enter the details of your TXT record.
- In the hostname field, type @.
- Select TXT from the Record Type list.
- In the TXT value field, enter the TXT value generated in the Zoho Mail Admin Console.
- Click Save.
- Now come back to the mailadmin.zoho.com page and click 'Verify by TXT'.
- If the DNS information is correctly propagated, the domain will be verified. You can proceed with the next steps to create user accounts.
Note:
ENOM's DNS servers have a default TTL value of 3600 seconds. The TTL can be set by submitting a support request from your account's Help Center to change the setting. Make sure to include the domain name in question as the new TTL is requested.
Add CNAME records for verification
If your domain's DNS is hosted with Enom follow the below steps to add CNAME and verify the domain. The CNAME records will be effective only if the Name Servers & DNS Servers are hosted with Enom.
- Log in to your account at www.enom.com.
- Select My Domains from the Domains dropdown.
- The Domain Overview page of your domain will be displayed.
- Select 'Host Records' from the Manage Domains dropdown on the right and Click New Row, to add a CNAME Record.
- Under Host Name, specify the code zb******** generated in the Zoho Control Panel.
- Select the Record Type as CNAME from the drop-down box.
- Enter the value from the CNAME Value/ Points To/ Destination field of your Zoho Mail Admin Console in the Address field.
- Click Save to update the CNAME changes.
You have now added the CNAME successfully. You may have to wait for at least an hour for the changes to take effect in the DNS Servers. After an hour or two, log in to your Zoho Mail Control Panel and click Verify. Once your domain is verified, you can start adding users and creating mail accounts.
Update MX Records to receive emails
If your DNS Manager is Enom, please follow the below steps to add MX, SPF and DKIM entries for your domain.
- Log in to your account at www.enom.com.
- Select 'My Domains' from the Domains drop-down menu.
- The Domain Overview page of your domain will be displayed.
- Select 'Email Settings' from the Manage Domains dropdown on the right.
- Select the 'User (MX)' option from the 'Service Selection' drop down to provide custom entries for your domain
- In the Host Name field, specify '@' (If there is a default record with @, continue in the same record).
- In the Address field, specify 'mx.zoho.com'.
- In the Pref field, specify '10'.
- Repeat the steps to add second and third MX records and their priorities.
- Ensure that you have checked the newly added records.
Click ‘Save’ to confirm the changes.
Note:
- Ensure that you have deleted all the MX records related to your previous email provider. Any other existing MX record will conflict with Zoho Mail, affect email delivery, and result in permanent loss of emails delivered.
- The dot(.) at the end of the MX record is optional. This depends on your DNS provider. We recommend you go through your DNS provider support documentation for the exact method to add the MX entries
- The MX values in the above table are based on the generic configuration information. For more specific configurations particular for your domain refer to this section in the Admin Control Panel.
- The MX records that should be returned when you check in the MX Lookup tool should be
- mx.zoho.com
- mx2.zoho.com
- mx3.zoho.com
- To add the SPF record- In the My Domain section, Select 'Host Records' from the Manage Domains dropdown on the right and click Add SRV or SPF Record.
- In the edit host records, select Add an SPF record from the drop-down
- In the Host Name field, specify '@' (If there is a default record with @, continue in the same record).
In the Address field, enter "v=spf1 include:zohomail.com -all" and click Save.
Note:
- The values of the records with respect to Enom will be given in the Zoho Mail Admin Console's DNS Mapping page. You can copy-paste the values into the respective fields in the DNS Manager.
- In case you are using only Zoho Mail to send emails, remove all the other SPF record types from the DNS. Click 'Save Changes' again to save all the changes.
- Having multiple SPF records will interrupt the SPF check and hence the SPF validation may fail and the emails will end up as Spam in the recipient servers. Learn more.
- To add the DKIM record - Go to Host records in the My Domains page.
- In the Host field, copy the value "zoho._domainkey" (this will be different in the case of a different selector) from Zoho's Domain Setup page and paste it into your domain's DNS page.
- Select TXT for the record type.
- For the Address field, copy the value "v=DKIM1; k=r**; p=***************....****" from Zoho Mail's Domain Setup page and paste it in your domain's DNS page and click Save.
Note:
- It may take anywhere between 4 to 48 hours for your DKIM record to propagate. You can check the validity of your DKIM record here.
After adding all three records, return to your Zoho Mail domain setup page and click Verify All Records. It may take about an hour or two for you to receive emails upon successful verification of your MX records and 4 to 48 hours for the propagation of SPF and DKIM records. You can check if your DNS records have reflected on our servers using the DNS lookup tool.
