Create Extensions

Create a Zoho Developer Account

Before you start building your extension, you’ll have to set up your Zoho Developer account. If you’re an existing Zoho customer, you can access Zoho Developer using your Zoho credentials.

For new users, here’s how you can create a Zoho Developer account:

  1. Go to the Zoho Developer page and click Get Started.
  2. Fill in the necessary details and click Sign Up for Free.
  3. After signing up, you’ll receive an email with a confirmation link in your registered email address.
  4. Click that link and follow the steps provided to complete your registration.

Once you’ve completed the registration, go back to the Zoho Developer app.

  1. Click Start building under Sigma.
  2. You’ll be redirected to Sigma. Enter a name for your workspace and click Create Workspace.

Insight: Sigma is an extension development platform where you can build and host extensions for various Zoho applications. You can add employees or colleagues to your workspace and enable them to work on multiple extensions in parallel.

Create an Extension

To create an extension for Zoho Expense:

  1. Go to Sigma.

  2. In the Extensions tab of your workspace, click New Extension in the top right corner.

    Note: If you’re a part of more than one workspace, when you go to Sigma, you’ll be taken to the Workspace page. Hover over the required workspace and click the workspace’s name.

  3. Enter a name for the extension in the Name field.

  4. Provide a description for the extension. Ensure that the description is at least 25 characters.

  5. Select the Zoho Expense logo under Service.

  6. Read and mark the I agree to the terms and conditions option.

  7. Click Create. The extension will be created and listed under the All Extensions tab.

  8. To view the details of the extension, click the Details icon.

  9. To start building your extension, click the Edit icon. You’ll be redirected to the Zoho Expense Developer Portal where you can build your extension.
