DNS Record Configuration for GoDaddy
Organizations that has GoDaddy domains must verify their domain manually to configure their account in Zoho eProtect. Follow one of these methods to prove your domain ownership:
Domain verification via TXT method - GoDaddy
If the DNS Manager for your domain is hosted with GoDaddy, follow the steps below to add a TXT Record and verify the domain.
- Log in to your GoDaddy Domain Control Center.
- Select your domain to access the Domain Settings page.
- Under Additional Settings, select Manage DNS.
- Select ADD below the table of your existing DNS records.
- Choose TXT from the record options drop-down menu.
- Enter the details for your TXT record.
- In the Host field, enter @
- In the TXT Value field, enter the TXT value generated in Zoho eProtect
- In the TTL field, enter 3600 seconds
- Now, click Save.
- Navigate back to Zoho eProtect's Domain verification page and click Verify TXT Record.
- If the DNS information is correctly propagated, the domain will be verified. You can proceed with the next steps to create user accounts.
Domain verification via CNAME method - GoDaddy
If the DNS Manager for your domain is hosted with GoDaddy, follow the steps below to add a CNAME and verify the domain.
- Log in to your GoDaddy Domain Control Center.
- Select your domain to access the Domain Settings page.
- Under Additional Settings, select Manage DNS.
- Select ADD below the table of your existing DNS records.
- Choose CNAME from the record options drop-down menu.
- In the Host field, enter the unique zbcode (zb*******) generated for your domain in Zoho eProtect.
- In the Points to field, enter the value from the CNAME Value/ Points To/ Destination field of your Zoho eProtect.
- Click Save.
- Navigate back to Zoho eProtect's Domain verification page and click Verify CNAME Record.
- If the DNS information is correctly propagated, the domain will be verified. You can proceed with the next steps to create user accounts.
Note:
You have now added the CNAME/TXT record successfully. The update usually takes effect in a few minutes. After some time, click the Verify CNAME Record/Verify TXT Record button in Zoho eProtect setup page to verify the domain and proceed further.
Configure MX Records - GoDaddy
If your domain's DNS Manager is hosted with GoDaddy, follow the below steps to add MX records for your Domain for Zoho eProtect to receive your emails.
- Log in to your GoDaddy DNS Manager.
- Select the My Account menu and choose Domains.
- Expand Domains and click the Manage DNS button for the domain you want to verify.
- The DNS Manager page will open with information regarding the existing DNS records.
- Scroll down to the Records section and click the Add button to add a DNS record.
- To add MX Records, select MX from the Type drop-down menu.
- In the Host field, enter "@" to denote the default domain for email delivery.
- In the Points to field, enter eprotect-mx.zoho.com, and in the Priority field, select 10 and click Save.
- Repeat the steps to add the second and third MX records and their priorities.
Note:
- The values of the records with respect to GoDaddy will be given in the Zoho eProtect's Domains page. You can copy-paste the values into the respective fields in the DNS Manager.
- Ensure that you have added Zoho's MX records with the least priority when compared to your previous email provider.
- The MX records that should be returned when you check in the MX Lookup tool should be:
- eprotect-mx.zoho.com
- eprotect-mx2.zoho.com
- eprotect-mx3.zoho.com
