Email has stood the test of time and remains one of the most efficient mediums of engagement. This was never more true than in 2020, where situations and circumstances forced email marketers to adopt a more virtual path. In spite of these challenges, email marketing prevailed and evolved in the process.
In this webinar, we take you through the journey of an email from its inception to its evaluation. Along the way, we talk about the various methods to follow in 2021 to address the changing scenario of email marketing while increasing your emails' engagement.
Q&A
We couldn't attend to all the questions during our webinar; however, we have answered them in detail here.
Q1. Is Zoho Campaigns part of Zoho CRM?
A1. No, Zoho Campaigns is a standalone application for sending mass marketing emails. In Zoho CRM, you can send sales-related emails with a limitation to the number of emails that you send.
Zoho Campaigns integrates seamlessly with Zoho CRM though, which will allow you to connect both applications and send mass emails without any limitations.
Q2. Where can you find the calendar on Zoho Campaigns?
A2. You can find the calendar on the top-right corner of the Zoho Campaigns dashboard.
You can check out our help document to learn more about it.
Q3. How can I get the opt-in from the people who answer the web form?
A3. If your web form does not have an option to confirm/opt-in, you can use our consent email feature, which is similar to opt-in.
Q4. How can I add the confirmation opt-in on the form?
A4. We don't have an option to add our opt-in confirmation button in external web forms. Our signup forms are double opt-in by default, so you can use our forms. If you are a Zoho One user, you can also use Zoho Forms.
If you wish to use an external web form, you can send a consent email from Zoho Campaigns to get their confirmation.
Q5. What's the difference between plain text and HTML?
A5. Plain text emails are simple emails without images or logos. The purpose is to send the message without losing any content. It has been found that the plain text version shows a high degree of email deliverability since it includes only text. If you're sending an update about your brand or anything personal (i.e. non-marketing emails), you could use plain-text emails because they give more of a personal touch to your emails.
HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. When the web pages and email templates are coded in such a way that the text is formatted and images are added, it is known as HTML. If you're sending an HTML email, your recipient will see the campaign with the images, text, and designs you chose when creating your campaign. If it's a marketing email, you can use HTML emails with minimalistic designs to make them eye-catching and grab the attention of the readers.
Q6. Can most of this be done with the free version of Zoho Campaigns?
A6. Yes, most of these features are available in the free plan of Zoho Campaigns. For more details, you can refer to our plan comparison.
Q7. How do you reduce the number of emails landing in customer junk or spam folders?
A7. A few best practices to reduce the number of emails landing in customer junk or spam folders include:
- Sending emails to Opt-in / active / recently communicated contacts
- Perform Domain Authentication
- Use our A/B test campaign feature
- Use a smart subject line with around four to six words at the maximum
- Make sure that your campaigns receive less bounces and unsubscribes
Q8. If Zoho Campaigns highlight bounce email IDs and we work to fix this, can these contacts be re-added to the list for the next email campaign?
A8. We automatically handle bounces in Zoho Campaigns. All the hard-bounced contacts will automatically be removed from the active contacts list and moved to the bounced contacts list, and no email will be sent to them in future.
Please make sure that you're sending campaigns to recent and opt-in contacts to reduce the bounce rate.
Q9. We have templates that use the merge tags, but we find that instead of our member's first name showing, it just said FName. Is there a reason for this?
A9. In test emails, merge tags will not work. Instead, a merge tag code will be displayed. To check whether your merge tags are working properly:
- Create a test list and add your email address to it
- Send the email to this list and check if the merge tags are working fine
